February's Feature is a new product for Harding Pens. The new product is a desk clock, and
is turned by hand out of a solid block of Red Oak.
The red oak looks beautiful in blocks this size. The grain patterns show nicely. Red Oak has flecks,
a type of grain pattern that is quite different. It looks like a line of gold that crosses over the normal
grain lines. On small items, such as pens, the flecks show up as short lines or arrows. On larger
items, such as this clock, the flecks show as lines winding their way around the clock.
The clock has a 1 7/8” diameter battery operated quartz clock insert that press fits into a hole I
carved into the block. The battery is replaceable. I have shown the clock with the clock faces that I
have in stock at the moment. The clock is available with any of the clock faces shown. This clock is
for sale at the time of writing and sells for $25 plus shipping, (pick up saves shipping costs). I can
do similar clocks out of other woods, let me know what you are interested in through a quote
request, I will let you know what I can do. Some woods are not readily available in large enough
blocks to make a clock like this. Please note that due to the larger sizes of wood used, there is a
large cost premium for exotic woods. I estimate a premium wood clock would sell for $40 and an
exotic wood clock would sell for $60. Some exotics might exceed this price. I can also make a clock
to a shape you like, send me a sketch and I will send you a no obligation quote.
Please note: I now have a satisfaction guarantee policy for most items, including this clock. See
more information on my contact-me page.
As always comments and suggestions are appreciated.
