| Pheasantwood, or Kolohala (Cassia siamea) Distribution: Southeast Asia. The tree is transplanted to Hawaii and is common as a flowering street tree. Tree: It grows to 60 feet high with a diameter of about two feet. The wood is difficult to find commercially. Wood: Relatively heavy, and hard, the wood is light to dark brown color with fine black grain. Beautiful figure, flat-sawn faces resemble pheasant tail feathers. Uses: Pheasantwood is used for ornamentation or trim on decorative and furniture products. |
